Invictibellatrix amberina Morrison et al, 2026
Locations
The only known material was recovered from Sudmoor Point, near Brook on the south west coast of the Isle of Wight.
A small theropod, Invictibellatrix probably would have preyed on the small dinosaurs such as Hypsilophodon, as well as small mammals.
It walked on two legs, and almost certainly had feathers.
Invictibellatrix amberina can be diagnosed by the presence of a small basipterygoid recess anterior to the anterior tympanic recess (ATR) on each side of the parabasisphenoid, a slightly transversely compressed, hourglass-shaped nuchal crest, the presence of two large, deep and dorsoventrally elongate paracondylar recesses on the ventrolateral sides of the basioccipital, and parasagittal nuchal crest recesses that are slightly curved and pronounced.
The only know material is beach-rolled, rather poorly preserved and incomplete, so please report it if you find some…
